JIRIBAM CELEBRATES 77TH REPUBLIC DAY WITH PATRIOTIC FERVOR

The District Administration, Jiribam celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day with patriotic fervour at Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground today. The Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Krishna Kumar, IAS graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The Deputy Commissioner unfurled the Tricolour, followed by the National Anthem. He then inspected the parade contingents and took the salute from the marching contingents, commanded by Jitendra Prasad Keer, IPS, on probation of Jiribam District Police.

A total of 11 contingents from various organizations, including 87th Bn. CRPF, CRPF-DETT Companies, District Police Jiribam, 7th Bn. IRB, Village Defence Force, NCC, Jiri College Boys, Jiri College Girls, R.K. Sanatombi Vidyala Girls, Kasturba Girls High School and 38th Bn. Assam Rifles Band and tableaux from Jiribam Forest Division, Horticultural & Agriculture Department, Social Welfare Department and District Health Society participated in the parade.

While addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS emphasized the importance of paying homage to freedom fighters and recalled the visionary leaders who led India to freedom.

Highlighting the Key Initiatives and schemes taken up in the district, Krishna Kumar said that the district administration has prioritized providing basic necessities such as safe drinking water, housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin and Urban), and improved healthcare facilities. The district hospital has been equipped with advanced medical equipment, including an Angiography machine and doctors' ambulance. A dialysis unit is expected to be functional soon.

Stressing the importance of Women Empowerment and Child Development he further said that the district administration has launched initiatives to empower women and promote child development. Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme, girl children are being empowered from birth. Efforts are also being made to stop child marriage through the Bal Vivah Mukta Bharat Abhiyan. A 24x7 One Stop center is providing shelter and legal assistance to victims of domestic violence.

Krishna Kumar highlighted that the Department of Agriculture and Soil Conservation has organized training programs for local farmers under the National Food Security Mission, National Mission on Natural Farming, and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. The district administration, forest department, education department, police department, and central police forces carried out an intensive plantation drive under the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam".

Emphasizing the importance of Good Governance and Community Development, he further said that the district administration celebrated Good Governance Week with the "Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore" campaign, focusing on administrative facilitation and service delivery. A vision document for the district's development was prepared, and contributions were made by all departments. The well-being of IDPs and DPs is being ensured, and helpline numbers have been issued to facilitate access to services.

Additionally, he also highlighted that the district administration has organized a month-long program to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, promoting national integration and unity. The State Government has recognized the hard work of the Computerization and Digitization team for Land Records, awarding a special Appreciation Certificate on the occasion of Statehood Day, 2026.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people of Jiribam to uphold peace, unity, and communal harmony in the district. He urged everyone to support the district administration, police, and central forces in maintaining lasting peace and promoting cultural diversity.

Krishna Kumar concluded his address by reiterating the government's commitment to building infrastructure that supports diverse activities, urging citizens to utilize these resources effectively for the betterment of Jiribam's future. He emphasized that proactive engagement in community development is essential for realizing the full potential of the district.

As part of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, various cultural items were showcased, and the Assam Rifles Band Display enthralled the crowds at the Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground. Banners highlighting the schemes and programs under different departments were displayed, adding to the festive atmosphere. The District Headquarters was adorned with well-decorated gates of various departments, making the celebration more vibrant and colourful.

Learners' driving licenses were distributed, and gas connections were given to selected beneficiaries under the Ujjwala Scheme on the occasion.

Appreciation certificates were awarded to 110 public servants, including police and central security forces, in recognition of their outstanding service. The awardees included three national players from the district, Parade Commander Jitendra Prasad Keer, IPS, commanders of participating contingents, flag assistants, pilots, and civil police personnel. Cash awards were also given to participating cultural teams.

Notably, Assistant Commandant Vipin Wilson of the 20 Bn. CRPF was decorated with the "Shaurya Chakra" by the Government of India for his valour in thwarting and neutralizing 10 militants in an armed attack on a CRPF post in Borobekra area of Jiribam on 11th November, 2024.

Superintendent of Police Jiribam, Prakhar Pandey, IPS, CO 7th IRB, Semmi Ramror, MPS, CO 87th Bn. CRPF, Dy CO 7th IRB, Additional SPs Jiribam, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, DLOs and Government officials of the District and public participated in the celebration.
