The Puducherry UT Government has become AI transformative and to promote inclusive governance & multilingual access to public information, the Government has deployed the Bhashini’s AI (speech-to-text translation) tool to convert the Prime Minister’s addresses from Hindi to Tamil during the “VEER BAL DIWAS-2025” organized by the Department of Women and Child Development, U.T. of Puducherry Child Protection Society.

The event, held on 26 December 2025 at the Puducherry, Indiragandhi Medical College Auditorium. The occasion was marked by the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, including:

• Thiru.R.Selvam, Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Puducherry
• Thiru.K.S.P.@Ramesh.S, Member of Legislative Assembly, Puducherry
• Thiru.Kulothugan.A, District Collector, Puducherry
• Secretaries of Government of Puducherry & other officials from Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Puducherry

To ensure Tamil-speaking citizens and Students could follow and understand the Prime Minister’s speech in real time, the BHASHINI’s AI tool provided instant speech-to-text translation. The translated text was displayed live on-screen and streamed through the portal, enabling Tamil-speaking students to engage meaningfully with the proceedings and appreciated the initiatives by Union Government.

The initiative received widespread appreciation. The Deputy Director of Women and Child Development stated, “The PM’s message was clearly understood by the students. The Tamil translation helped bridge the communication gap which was a big challenge last year for the VEER BAL DIWAS function. This year it became easier for us to connect and understand the Prime Minister's speech”

Mr. Aman Sharma, Director of the Information Technology Department, congratulated the team and emphasized, “This model should be replicated for all future Central Government scheme launches to ensure linguistic inclusivity.”

It aims to build cutting-edge language AI tools to make digital services accessible in all Indian languages. Through platforms like Shrutlek, BHASHINI empowers citizens by removing linguistic barriers in governance, public communication, and service delivery-ensuring that every Indian can participate fully in the digital ecosystem, regardless of language.
