In today’s fast-paced era, when most communication has become confined to digital platforms, the tradition of letter writing continues to retain its relevance and dignity. A handwritten letter vividly conveys emotions arising from the depths of the heart and establishes a direct connection with the reader. These views were expressed by Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, IPoS, Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, while felicitating the winner of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter Writing Competition–2025. On this occasion, Vishwaba A. Vaghela, a Class 8 student of H. B. Kapadia Primary School, Ahmedabad, was felicitated by the Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav with a cheque of ₹5,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation for securing third position in the Gujarat Circle in the competition. It is noteworthy that 995 students from various schools of Gujarat circle participated in the letter writing competition organized by Universal Postal Union on the subject "Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter to someone explaining why and how they should take good care of you.”  At the Gujarat Circle level, Pranjal P. Agrawal from Vadodara Region secured the first position, Sonal R. Der from Air Force School, Jamnagar from Rajkot Region secured the second position, and Vishwaba A. Vaghela from H. B. Kapadia Primary School from Head Quarter Region, Ahmedabad secured the third position.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that this internationally organised competition not only served as a platform to encourage youth's creativity and writing skills, but also proved helpful in developing awareness and sensitivity towards environmental conservation. Through their letters, the students conveyed a strong message on ocean conservation, environmental balance, and responsibility towards nature. This initiative, jointly organised by the Universal Postal Union and the India Post, provides an important platform for young people especially Gen-Z to think about social and global issues and express their feelings through letter writing. It also offers a valuable opportunity to articulate ideas in a creative, sensitive, and impactful manner.

Senior Postmaster, Ahmedabad GPO Shri Alpesh Shah told that Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter Writing Competition is organised by Department of Posts every year for children aged 9 to 15 years. At the State or Circle level, the top three selected participants are awarded prize money of ₹25,000, ₹10,000, and ₹5,000 for the first, second, and third positions respectively, along with certificates.

On this occasion, Sr. Postmaster Ahmedabad GPO Shri Alpesh Shah, Assistant Director Shri V M. Vahora, Shri M M Shaikh, Shri Ritul Gandhi, Assistant Superintendent Shri Jinesh Patel, Shri Ramesh Patel, Shri Ronak Shah, Shri Bhavin Prajapati, Assistant Account Officer Shri Ramswroop Mangawa, Inspector Ms. Payal Patel, Shri Yogendra Rathod, Dixit Rami along with other officials were present.
