The introduction of new trains and Vande Bharat train services depends on factors including section capacity, availability of train paths, rolling stock and compatible infrastructure, and maintenance requirements of railway assets.
Indian Railways regularly receives proposals and suggestions from Members of Parliament, elected representatives, organizations, and rail users for new train services. These requests are reviewed continuously at the Railway Board, Zonal Railways, and Divisional levels, with action taken as feasible.
Expenditure related to infrastructure and Vande Bharat trains falls under the overall maintenance and upgradation budget of Indian Railways, encompassing both revenue and capital segments.
This was stated in a written reply to an unstarred question by the Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw in Lok Sabha today.
