Instituted in honour of Justice Mohammad Hidayatullah, one of India’s most eminent jurists and former Chief Justice of India, the international moot court competition has emerged as a premier platform for law students from India and abroad to demonstrate their research, analytical and oral advocacy skills. Each edition centres on complex, contemporary issues of international legal significance, enabling participants to engage deeply with real-world challenges.
The 2026 edition of the competition will feature participation from leading national and international law universities. The preliminary, quarter-final, semi-final and final rounds will be judged by an esteemed panel comprising Judges of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, senior advocates, partners from top law firms, and distinguished legal academics. The rounds will be conducted in physical mode at the HNLU campus, which hosts state-of-the-art facilities including a Master Moot Court Hall, multiple subsidiary courtrooms and a 350-seater auditorium designated for the Grand Finale.
The moot problem for HIMCC 2026 addresses pressing global concerns relating to clean energy, environmental sustainability and climate justice, reflecting the university’s emphasis on contemporary legal discourse and its commitment to law in service of society.
The competition is being organised by the HNLU Moot Court Committee (HIMCC Secretariat), comprising faculty advisors and student convenors. The Faculty Organising Committee is chaired by Professor (Dr.) V. C. Vivekanandan, Vice-Chancellor, Hidayatullah National Law University, and coordinated by Dr. Anindhya Tiwari, Organising Secretary.
