IIT Gandhinagar’s Amalthea 2025 blends technology, creativity, and celebration

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) successfully concluded the 16th edition of its annual technological summit, Amalthea 2025, held on November 8 and 9, 2025. This year’s edition, themed “Orchestrating Origins,” witnessed a vibrant participation of students, industry professionals, innovators, and academics, celebrating technology, creativity, and collaboration.

The two-day summit was inaugurated by Dr Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), who emphasized the importance of indigenous R&D and innovation in shaping India’s technological future. Following the inauguration, Dr Upadhyay officially opened the flagship Amalthea Tech Expo, held as an official pre-event in collaboration with the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

The Tech Expo emerged as one of the major highlights of the summit, showcasing innovations from the Indian Army, IBM, Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), and over 25 leading AI startups and companies, including Neysa AI, Soket AI, Kapidhwaj AI, Verbix.ai, Eshway, Ziroh Labs, and many others. The Expo also featured a special innovation showcase on AI and defence technologies and drew large crowds of students, researchers, and industry professionals throughout the day.

The Auto Expo at Amalthea ’25 celebrated the spirit of engineering and design with a spectacular display of vintage and modern automobiles. Rare classics such as the VW Beetle (1964),Toyota Crown (1964), Willys MB World War 2 used Jeep (1943), Cadillac Deville, Mercedes Benz 300D W123 (1984), and Fiat Delight (1974) were exhibited by Gujarat Vintage Classic Car Clubs(GVCCC) alongside models like Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Volkswagen Taigun, presented by Landmark Cars, Monster Trucks like Nissan Jonga, Toyota Hilux, Innova Crysta by Shreeji Toyota, and Slavia Prestige, Kylaq Prestige by Steller Skoda drawing significant public attention.

Among the most popular events of the summit was the Odoo x Amalthea Hackathon, which began with an overwhelming 2,051 team registrations from across the country in its virtual round. After multiple evaluation stages, 105 teams qualified for the grand finale held at IITGN during Amalthea 2025. The hackathon concluded with the felicitation of the top three winning teams, who received awards from a prize pool of ₹1,05,000 and exclusive Odoo merchandise.

Competitions such as the Boeing National Aeromodelling Competition (Western Zonals), Bridge-a-thon, City-thon, Re-React, Brainwiz, Cubing, and other technical challenges engaged hundreds of participants. The Vadodara Hi-Flyers from Parul University secured first place in the Boeing Aeromodelling Competition, while Imaad Sohel Ajani achieved a national record in Pyraminx solving with a time of just 1.01 seconds — marking a standout moment at Amalthea ’25.

The Networking Dinner on November 9 brought together IITGN faculty, including Deans and HoDs, along with sponsors and exhibitors, for an evening of meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Representatives from Bank of Baroda, Neysa AI, Odoo, QConcept, and Soket AI shared insights on strengthening academia–industry linkages.

IIT Gandhinagar’s first-ever EDM Night, “The Shunya,” turned into a spectacular finale to Amalthea ’25, featuring global sensation DJ Teri Miko along with Aryan K and Parth Shrivastava. With over 2,500 people grooving to the beats, the night ended the summit on an electrifying high.

With a rich mix of competitions, exhibitions, hackathons, and cultural highlights, Amalthea 2025 reaffirmed IIT Gandhinagar’s position as a hub of innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration, inspiring young minds to lead India’s next wave of technological growth.
