In a landmark tribute to India’s coal sector, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), in collaboration with the Department of Posts, Chhattisgarh Circle, released a Special India Post Cover commemorating Coal India’s Golden Jubilee (50 years) and SECL’s Ruby Jubilee (40 years) of distinguished service to the nation’s energy sector. A Special Cancellation Cachet was also unveiled on the occasion.

 

The commemorative release ceremony, held under the ambit of Special Campaign 5.0 of the Government of India, was graced by Shri P. M. Prasad, Chairman, Coal India Limited, and Shri Harish Duhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, South Eastern Coalfields Limited, along with Functional Directors, Chief Vigilance Officer, and senior officers from the Department of Posts, Chhattisgarh Postal Circle.

 

The Special Cover, a philatelic collectible, immortalizes five decades of Coal India’s unmatched contribution to national energy security and four decades of SECL’s operational excellence and innovation in coal production. It symbolizes the enduring partnership between India’s industrial growth and its institutional legacy.

 

Launched as part of Special Campaign 5.0, the initiative highlights the Government’s commitment to institutional cleanliness, efficient record management, and the commemoration of landmark achievements by public sector enterprises.

 

Since its establishment in 1975, Coal India Limited—the world’s largest coal-producing company—has remained the backbone of India’s energy security, catering to more than 70 percent of the nation’s coal demand. In its Golden Jubilee year, Coal India achieved record-breaking production, dispatch, and overburden removal, contributing significantly to the historic milestone of 1 billion tonnes of coal production by the Indian coal sector in the financial year 2024–25.

 

The release of this Special Cover stands as a proud testament to India’s journey towards energy self-reliance and the unwavering dedication of its coal industry to power the nation’s growth story.
