A special awareness camp on unclaimed assets in the financial sector will be organized in Burdwan town, Purba Barddhaman district on 24th October, 2025 at 11:00 am at Lions Club of Burdwan Welfare Charitable Trust, Hall No.–3, 2nd Floor, Tinkonia, Goods Shed Road, Barddhaman. Representatives from all concerned Regulatory bodies like RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, LIC, IEPFA etc. along with representatives from banks & SLBC West Bengal will be present at the camps. This is being held as part of three-month nationwide awareness campaign (October–December 2025) on unclaimed assets in the financial sector, titled — “Your Money, Your Right”, launched by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in coordination with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI); Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI); Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Representatives from all concerned Regulatory bodies like RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, IEPFA etc. along with representatives from banks, insurance companies & SLBC West Bengal will be present at the camp.
Many financial assets—including insurance payouts, bank deposits, dividends, shares, and mutual fund proceeds—go unclaimed because individuals are often unaware or lack current contact information. The campaign will feature on-site assistance to guide citizens through the process of locating, updating records, and completing the claim paperwork. Digital tools and practical, step-by-step demonstrations will also be provided.
The Government of India is dedicated to ensuring that every rightful rupee saved by its citizens reaches them or their heirs. The program aims to motivate broad participation, disseminate information, and deepen financial inclusion at the household level. It will empower people by offering clear guidance on tracing and recovering their funds, supported by Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) from financial regulators to ensure the process is straightforward and transparent.
