MEPZ and C-DAC Set to Launch IT Skill Development Centre in Chennai

An important new effort to address India's growing demand for tech talent begins tomorrow as the MEPZ–C-DAC IT Skill Development Centre will be inaugurated on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the MEPZ SEZ in Chennai. This new facility is positioned as a direct response to the immediate and surging demand for AI-fluent, job-ready professionals.

The Centre, aiming to train over 2,800 specialized professionals annually, boasts a curriculum co-designed with industry leaders, emphasizing 70% hands-on learning through live projects. Trainees will gain access to advanced infrastructure, including the PARAM Shavak supercomputing system. Initial training will focus on high-demand domains such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML), Big Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), Quantum Computing, Full Stack Development, and High-Performance Computing (HPC).

The Centre is designed to support Small and Medium Industries (SMEs) by customizing batches to specific needs and providing a steady supply of deployment-ready candidates.

The official inauguration ceremony will be led by Mr. S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology. Key dignitaries expected include Mr. Brajendra Navnit, Principal Secretary, Information Technology & Digital Services Department, Mr. Alex Paul Menon, Zonal Development Commissioner of MEPZ SEZ, Mr. E. Magesh, Director General of C-DAC and
Mr. S. D. Sudarsan, Executive Director, C-DAC Bangalore.

An essential Industry Stakeholders Interface Meeting, facilitated by NASSCOM, will take place. This crucial session, led by Mr. S. Krishnan, will address the “Impact of US Tariffs on IT/ITES & Electronics Sectors,” providing critical policy and industry insights.
