Kolkata, 16th October 2025

A special awareness camp, held on October 15, 2025, in Berhampore, Murshidabad, as a part of the Nationwide Awareness Campaign of Unclaimed Financial Assets (themed "Your Money, Your Right"), concluded yesterday, marking a significant milestone in investor education and asset repatriation.
The event, which brought together key representatives from regulatory bodies concerned and financial institutions, generated awareness and directly assisted numerous citizens in initiating claims for their rightful assets.

The success of the camp was largely attributed to seamless collaboration between the nation’s top financial regulators and institutions. Representatives from Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), and the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) were present, alongside dedicated teams from various Banks and SLBC West Bengal.

“This camp demonstrated the power of a unified approach,” said a senior coordinator for the initiative. “Having all these key entities under one roof allowed citizens to navigate the often complex process of tracing and claiming unclaimed funds, insurance, and investments seamlessly. The collective effort has set a new benchmark for financial outreach.”

The turnout far exceeded expectations, indicating a high level of need and interest in the Murshidabad region. Attendees received one-on-one counseling on how to use online tools and portals to locate their unclaimed assets, understand necessary documentation, and formalize their claims.

The comprehensive public outreach successfully communicated the campaign’s core message which is “financial assets do not vanish, and every citizen has the right to reclaim what is rightfully theirs”. The interactive sessions clarified misconceptions about asset forfeiture and highlighted the specific procedures for dealing with dormant bank accounts, lapsed insurance policies, unclaimed dividends, and matured investments.

The campaign has drawn the highest praise from participants. The campaign has not only generated awareness but also provided immediate, practical solutions that will translate to financial security for many families in this district.

The momentum gained from the Berhampore camp will serve as a model for future awareness initiatives across the nation, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring "Your Money, Your Right" for every citizen.
