Dr. Andrew Fleming, British Deputy High Commissioner, Kolkata, today presented the EEPC India Eastern Region Awards at a joint ceremony for the 40th and 41st editions, honouring top-performing engineering goods exporters from the region. The event celebrated the exemplary contribution of EEPC India in nurturing and supporting its members’ international business aspirations over the last seven decades.
A total of 73 awards were conferred on 42 member exporters from Eastern India for their outstanding engineering export performance during the financial years 2021–22 and 2022–23.
Shri Vimal Anand, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in his congratulatory message, noted that engineering exports from the Eastern Region surpassed USD 11.08 billion in FY 2024–25, accounting for nearly 10% of India’s total engineering exports.
Shri Anand highlighted that India’s engineering goods exports reached an all-time high of USD 116.67 billion in FY 2024–25, underscoring the sector’s growing global footprint. He reaffirmed the Government of India’s commitment to supporting exporters across all regions by enhancing ease of doing business, expanding market access, and strengthening trade infrastructure.
In his address, Dr. Fleming lauded India’s strides towards becoming a global superpower in the engineering sector, acknowledging EEPC India’s critical role in fostering competitiveness and innovation. Referring to the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) signed in July this year, he said that the landmark pact “will unlock huge opportunities for trade and investment across diverse sectors, including engineering.” He also remarked that the recent visit of the Prime Minister to the United Kingdom, accompanied by the largest-ever Indian trade delegation, reflected the strong bilateral commitment to deepening economic and industrial partnerships.
