PIB & CBC observes ‘Swachhta Hi Seva 2025’ Campaign at Akashvani Gangtok

Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) and Press Information Bureau (PIB), Gangtok conducted a cleanliness drive under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ campaign at the Akashvani Gangtok Kendra today. The theme of the event was ‘Ek Kadam Swachhata Ki Aur’. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the staff of both PIB and Akashvani Gangtok, including members from the Engineering, News, and Administration departments. Cleanliness drive was conducted at Akashvani premises and nearby areas by the participants.
Shri Vinod Kumar Sharma, Program Head of Akashvani Kendra, Gangtok graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Sharma emphasized that the core message of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ campaign is to uphold cleanliness in both professional and personal life. He highlighted that Sikkim, being an organic state, is already recognized nationwide for its cleanliness, civic sense, and disciplined lifestyle.
Shri Sharma further urged all residents of Sikkim—whether living with family or for professional commitments—to take collective responsibility for maintaining the state's cleanliness. Shri Manas Pratim Sarma, Head of Office of PIB Gangtok and News Unit of Akashvani highlighted the importance of cleanliness in our daily life. He said that PIB and CBC are going to hold a series of awareness events in the state under the SHS 2025 campaign this month.
A quiz contest was organized on Swachh Bharat Mission and Swachhata Hi Seva campaign to boost interest and instil general awareness among people about these initiatives.
The event was also attended by Shri Tarun Kumar Ghosh, Programme Executive, Akashvani Gangtok; Shri Mainak Chatterjee, News Editor, Akashvani, Gangtok; Shri Satendra Kumar, Information Assistant of PIB, Gangtok; Shri Rustam Lepcha, Senior Announcer of Akashvani, Gangtok along with staff members of PIB and Akashvani Gangtok.
