To review the progress of various National Highway projects and to conduct a detailed on-site review, NHAI Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav visited the state of Gujarat. The Chairman did detailed inspection of Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway and other critical stretches of NH-48 and NE-4 (VME) in the state. The two-day visit focused on construction quality, structural stability, and traffic safety measures across ongoing and completed projects. NHAI Chairman was accompanied by senior NHAI Officials from Gujarat, technical experts, concessionaires and Independent Engineers that are involved in the implementation of these projects.

During his visit NHAI Chairman approved a long-standing demand for an entry and exit point connecting Vadodara- Mumbai Expressway (VME) with Dandi Path at Pungam village on NH-64. This will facilitate smoother traffic movement towards NH-48 and benefit industrial hub of Ankleshwar, while also providing direct connectivity from Dahej Port to VME. The construction of entry and exit points on the section will also help to enhance regional connectivity, improving logistics efficiency and supporting industrial growth.

The Gujarat visit of the NHAI Chairman commenced with a comprehensive review of the 93 km long Mota Chiloda to Shamlaji section of NH-48, a key corridor in northern Gujarat. The Chairman also inspected 109 km long Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway. The Expressway is part of NE-08 and is a strategic greenfield project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic growth in the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR). On-site review included topics related to utility shifting, land acquisition status, pace of construction, and quality control measures.

In the southern part of the state, the Chairman examined several key stretches of NH-48 and NE-4, which included 90 km long Vadodara to Bharuch section of NH-48; 15 km long Bharuch to Ankleshwar section of NH-48; 30 km long Ankleshwar to Kim section of NE-4; 40 km long Kim Interchange to Surat on NH-48; 110 km long Surat to Vapi/Bhilad section of NH-48; 60 km long Vapi to Kharel section of NH-48 and Gandevi to Kim section of VME.

These stretches are vital for Gujarat section of the Delhi-Mumbai corridor and include implementation of complex interchanges and areas requiring special attention for drainage management and structural safety.

The Chairman’s visit to the state of Gujarat underscores NHAI’s commitment to build a robust and world-class National Highway network, ensuring quality construction and a seamless, safe travel experience for the National Highway users.
