As part of the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ campaign, large-scale cleanliness drives were organized across several districts of Chhattisgarh today. From Dantewada to Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Ambikapur and Mahasamund, public representatives, officials, employees, and citizens came together in a show of collective participation, pledging to make cleanliness an integral part of daily life.
In Dantewada, villagers of Kumharras carried out a cleanliness drive at the Kumharras Dam site. The programme was held in the presence of Janpad Panchayat CEO Pradeep Kumar Patel, along with the village sarpanch, secretary, employment assistant and other locals. Youth, women and senior citizens actively joined hands to clean the premises, sending out the message that cleanliness can only be sustained through community participation.
In Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, a drive was conducted at the Bandhamuda Pond under the theme “One Day – One Hour – Together”. District Panchayat President Sameera Paikara, Collector Leena Kamlesh Mandavi, Municipality Chairman Mukesh Dubey, CEO Mukesh Rawte, SDM Vikrant Anchal, CMO Narayan Sahu, along with local citizens, cleanliness volunteers and self-help groups, participated in the effort. Collector Mandavi administered a pledge to dedicate 100 hours annually – or two hours every week – towards cleanliness, stressing that it is not just a responsibility but a cultural value.
In Ambikapur, the Municipal Corporation hosted a similar drive under the same theme. Mayor Manjusha Bhagat, Speaker Harminder Singh Tinny, Collector Vilas Bhoskar, Zila Panchayat CEO Vinay Kumar Agrawal, Commissioner D.N. Kashyap, councillors, officials and a large number of citizens participated. Mayor Bhagat underlined that Ambikapur has already earned national recognition in cleanliness and that sustained collective efforts would further strengthen its identity as a model clean city.
In Mahasamund, a mega cleanliness campaign was carried out at Bandhwa Pond in Ward No. 17. MLA Yogeshwar Raju Sinha, Collector Vinay Kumar Lengeh, State Seed Corporation Chairman Chandrahans Chandrakar and several public representatives personally took part in cleaning the pond embankment. Addressing citizens, MLA Sinha urged them to take the campaign beyond mere cleaning and embrace it as a movement for a healthier and more developed society.
Organised as part of Chhattisgarh’s Rajat Mahotsav celebrations, these initiatives saw enthusiastic participation of Swachhata Didis, self-help groups, sanitation workers and citizens in large numbers. The common message echoed across all districts: Cleanliness is not a one-day campaign but a way of life – and collective participation is the key to realizing the dream of a clean India.
