Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav Inaugurated ‘Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion’ Maha Mela in Banaskantha

The Department of Posts, one of the oldest and most trusted department in the country, has been actively contributing to India's social and economic development for decades. In the current digital age and amidst the revolution in information and communication technology, the department’s vast network and diverse services are bringing it closer to the people. With features of financial security and attractive interest rates, Post Office savings schemes continue to remain a symbol of trust among people across generations. These views were expressed by Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region, while inaugurating the ‘Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion’ Maha Mela organized on 22nd September at Palanpur by Banaskantha Division. Through this Maha Mela, citizens were provided information about various postal services while Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav distributed passbooks and policy bonds to the beneficiaries of savings schemes, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Postal Life Insurance, and India Post Payments Bank. Shri Yadav also felicitated postal employees for their exemplary performance and encouraged them. On this occasion, Superintendent of Post Offices, Banaskantha Division, Shri R. A. Goswami, welcomed the guests.

Addressing the Maha Mela, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that by providing multiple services under one roof, post offices have been transformed into multi-utility centres. Post offices today offer a wide range of citizen-centric facilities such as Savings Bank, Insurance, India Post Payments Bank, Direct Benefit Transfer, Digital Banking, Aadhaar services, Post Office Passport Seva Kendra, Aadhaar enrolment and updation, Dakghar Niryat Kendra, and QR code-based digital payments. Under CELC, doorstep services such as Aadhaar enrolment for children, mobile updates, Digital Life Certificates, DBT, bill payments, AePS-based banking transactions, vehicle insurance, health insurance, accident insurance, and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana are being delivered directly to citizens through postal staff via IPPB. Further Dakghar Niryat Kendra, under the ‘Atmnirbhar harat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign, are providing new wings to local industries and entrepreneurs. From delivering toolkits under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana to providing special facilities for MSME, ODOP, and GI-tagged products, the Department of Posts is playing a crucial role in promoting entrepreneurship and trade. PMG Shri KK Yadav emphasized that the Department of Posts is continuously striving to bring modern services closer to the people and ensure financial inclusion across both rural and urban areas.
While distributing Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana passbooks and gifts to girl children, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav emphasised that Society can achieve harmony, progress, and empowerment only when daughters are educated, safe, and self-reliant. He appealed to people to open Sukanya Samriddhi accounts for their daughters during the Navratri festival. Under this innovative initiative, 4.77 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts are operational across North Gujarat, and 850 villages have already been declared as ‘Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Villages’. Whereas, In Banaskantha Division, more than 87,000 Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened so far, and 127 villages have been declared as ‘Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Villages’, where accounts have been opened in the name of all eligible girl children.
Superintendent of Post Offices, Banaskantha Division, Shri R.A. Goswami, said that postal services are connecting every section of society. Under financial inclusion, a total of 4.29 lakh savings accounts and 1.6 lakh IPPB accounts are currently operational in the Banaskantha Division. During the current financial year, premium collections of ₹11 crore under Postal Life Insurance and ₹4 crore under Rural Postal Life Insurance have been recorded. In Banaskantha, 132 villages have been declared as ‘Sampoorna Bima Gram’, and under a recently launched initiative, 20 villages have also been declared as ‘Sampoorna Bachat Gram’.

On this occasion, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav felicitated Ratanshibhai Parmar, Nareshkumar Modi, Mavjibhai Prajapati, Punamgar Swami, Fakruddin Dodia, Hirabhai Rawal, Babulal Rathod, Jagdishkumar Magarvadia, Vishnubhai Gajjar, Rameshkumar Changda, Baldevbhai Joshi, Ganpatbhai Pandya, Udaysingh Rathod, Pravinbhai Solanki, Kantilal Paradia, Parth Dodia, Jayeshkumar Prajapati, Mahendrakumar Vaghela, Kirankumar Panchal, Taslimbanu Kazi, Manishkumar Patel, Vipulkumar Thakkar, Rameshkumar Shrimali, Hardasbhai Patel, Vandanaben Darji, Shravanji Kordia, Shankarbhai Solanki, Nirav Joshi, Bharatbhai Rawal Division for their outstanding performance. Along with this, the Sub Divisional Heads of Banaskantha Division Shri Jagdeep, Shri Hariom Singh Gurjar, Shri Aiyub Ghanchi were also felicitated.
