Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav Inaugurated ‘Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion’ Maha Mela in Mahesana

Department of Posts has established a new identity by modernizing and strengthening its services through Advanced Postal Technology 2.0 in digital era. Owing to its extensive network, reliability, accessibility, and seamless communication of India Post, all the welfare schemes are reaching the last person of the society. Even today, due to attractive interest rates, Post Office Savings Schemes continue to be the most popular as people continue to make safe investments in them across generations. These views were expressed by Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region as the chief guest while inaugurating the “Postal Business Development and Financial Inclusion” Maha Mela organized by Mahesana Division on 11th September. On this occasion, Postmaster General also distributed passbooks and policy bonds to beneficiaries of various savings schemes, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna, Postal Life Insurance, India Post Payments Bank and also felicitated postal employees for their exemplary performance to encourage their continued dedication. Superintendent of Mahesana Division, Shri Siraj Mansuri, welcomed the dignitaries.

While addressing the Maha Mela, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that post offices have been made multi-functional by providing all services under one roof. Facilities such as Savings bank, life Insurance, India Post Payments Bank, DBT, Digital banking, Aadhaar services, Post Office Passport Seva Kendras, Aadhaar enrolment and updation, Dakghar Niryat Kendras, and QR code-based digital payments are all available at post offices. Under CELC, services such as Aadhaar enrolment for children, mobile updates, Digital life certificates, DBT, Bill payments, AEPS-based payments from bank accounts, Vehicle insurance, Health insurance, Accident insurance, and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana are being provided by IPPB at their doorstep through postmen. Dakghar Niryat Kendras are giving new wings to local industries and entrepreneurs under the "Local to Global" campaign. From the delivery of toolkits under the PM Vishwakarma Yojna to special facilities for MSMEs, ODOP, and GI products, India Post is playing a significant role in promoting entrepreneurship and trade. Department of Posts is continuously striving to deliver modern services to the public and ensure financial inclusion in both rural and urban areas, said Shri Yadav.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that at present, under financial inclusion in Mahesana Division, a total of 5.80 lakh Savings Accounts, 94,000 India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) accounts, and 70,000 Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts are operational. During the current financial year, a total premium of ₹10 crore has been collected under Postal Life Insurance and ₹4 crore under Rural Postal Life Insurance. Additionally, 113 villages in Mahesana have been declared as ‘Sampoorna Sukanya Samriddhi Gram,’ 110 villages as ‘Sampoorna Biam Gram,’ and under the recently launched initiative, 18 villages have been declared as ‘Sampoorna Bachat Gram.’ Through the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra functioning at Mahesana Head Post Office, 7,240 people have obtained passports.

Superintendent of Mahesana Division, Shri Siraj Mansuri, said that the main objective of this Maha Mela is to create public awareness about all welfare schemes related to Post Office and to connect more and more people with these schemes. Shri Mansuri said that during this Maha Mela, Mahesana Division has procured over 10,000 Savings Accounts, premium collections of more than ₹12 lakh in Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance, more than 1,200 Aadhaar transactions, over 500 premium accounts of India Post Payments Bank, and more than 1,000 general insurance policies. Additionally, Dhamabava Branch Post Office of Mahesana Division gave new impetus to digital transparency and accessibility in postal services by making the first e-payment of Sabarmati Gas under APT 2.0.

On this occasion, Superintendent of Post Offices Shri Siraj Mansuri, Assistant Director Shri Varis Vahora, IPPB Chief Manager Shri Abhijeet Jibhkate, Manager Shri J. Rohith, Assistant Superintendent Shri Ramesh Rabari, Shri Vijaypal Singh, Shri Dhaval Suthar, Shri Vishal Brahmbhatt, Inspector Shri Sandeep Kumar, along with several local dignitaries, postal staff, and citizens, actively participated.
