Saturation of Financial Inclusion Schemes and Re-KYC Camp Takes Place in Hooghly District of West Bengal

A Financial Inclusion (FI) Saturation and Re-KYC Camp was organised today at Dhaniakhali, Haripal, and Singur in Hooghly District. The camp was held in the presence of Shri Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, RBI Kolkata and Shri Ashwani Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, UCO Bank. Senior officials from State Bank of India and other banks were also present. The camp was part of the Government of India’s initiative to conduct FI saturation camps in all 3,339 Gram Panchayats of West Bengal from 1stJuly to 30th September 2025.

Speaking at the camp, Shri Sudhanshu Prasad emphasised that timely re-KYC is important to keep bank accounts active and to ensure that government benefits are received without delay. He also informed participants about the RBI’s UDGAM portal for tracing and claiming unclaimed deposits and shared details of the RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, through which customers can lodge complaints free of cost via the CMS portal or by calling 14448. He advised citizens to report financial fraud immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal’s toll-free number 1930 and cautioned them against sharing OTPs, PINs, or passwords with anyone.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Ashwani Kumar highlighted the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), under which account holders receive an overdraft facility of Rs.10,000 and an accident insurance cover of Rs.2 lakh. During the camp, new savings accounts were opened under PMJDY, and enrolments were carried out in the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). Customers were also made aware of nomination facilities and protection against digital fraud.

In these Gram Panchayat-level camps in Dhaniakhali, Haripal, and Singur, a total of 5,929 customers successfully completed their re-KYC.
