Chairman and Managing Director, FCI, gives a Befitting Conclusion to Food Corporation of India Inter-Regional Cultural Competition(East Zone) 2025

The Chairman and Managing Director of the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Shri Asutosh Agnihotri(IAS), formally concluded the two-day Food Corporation of India Inter-Regional Cultural Competition(East Zone) for the year 2025, today at Science City Auditorium, Kolkata. Other senior officials and dignitaries of FCI were also present at the event, lending their support and encouragement to the participants.
The event witnessed a spectacular array of cultural performances by FCI employees, including solo songs, classical and contemporary dance presentations, instrumental music recitals, and group dramas. These performances reflected the rich talent pool and artistic inclinations of FCI’s diverse workforce.
During the valedictory function, prizes were distributed to the winners and outstanding performers across various categories.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Agnihotri commended the remarkable talent, passion, and dedication demonstrated by FCI employees through their artistic expression. He highlighted the organisation’s long-standing tradition of nurturing cultural values and noted that such events reinforce the deep sense of unity and shared heritage within FCI.
Shri Agnihotri also lauded the organisers for their meticulous planning and execution of the competition, which made the event a grand success. He reiterated that the cultural vibrancy showcased is a testament to FCI's inclusive and spirited organisational culture.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion described the event as a “truly memorable and vibrant celebration” of creativity and camaraderie. They acknowledged the competition’s role in fostering employee engagement and promoting cultural exchange among regional offices.
The East Zone Inter-Regional Cultural Competition 2025 not only brought together participants from various units but also underscored the cultural ethos that defines FCI as an organisation committed to both professional excellence and holistic employee development.
The Food Corporatiion of India was set up under the Food Corporations Act, 1964 to fulfill the key objectives of India’s Food Policy: (1) effective price support operations to safeguard the interests of farmers; (2) distribution of foodgrains throughout the country under the Public Distribution System; and (3) maintenance of adequate operational and buffer stocks of foodgrains to ensure national food security. Since its inception, FCI has played a pivotal role in India’s transition from crisis-driven food security to a stable, resilient, and structured food security system.
