Department of Posts is entering in a new era of digital excellence and transformation. In this direction, India Post has begun implementing IT Modernization 2.0. Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region and Saurashtra & Kutch Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav, said that this is a “customer-friendly” step towards “Digital India” and “Cashless India,” through which Branch Post Offices located in remote rural areas are even being made hi-tech. Under this initiative, all Administrative Offices, Post Offices, and Railway Mail Service Offices of the Department of Posts will operate on the Advanced Postal Technology APT 2.0 portal. In the Gujarat Postal Circle, during the first phase on 8th July 2025, Mahesana, Rajkot, and Navsari Divisions, along with all Railway Mail Service Divisions, have been migrated to the APT 2.0 portal. The remaining 23 Postal Divisions will also start operating on the APT 2.0 portal from 22nd July 2025. Before implementing IT 2.0, over 26,000 employees of the Gujarat Postal Circle were given special training. By August 2025, all Post Offices across the country will start functioning under IT Modernization 2.0.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav inaugurated IT Modernization-2.0 in Foreign Post Office and in Railway Mail Service Office, Ahmedabad. At the same time, he also interacted with the Postal Officials in Rajkot and Mehsana Division through video conferencing. Sh. Krishna Kumar Yadav said that this milestone signifies more than a technological upgrade — it represents our commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. With smarter systems, intuitive customer interfaces and faster processing, IT 2.0 will redefine how we serve our customers, making services more reliable, accessible, and customer-friendly than ever before.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav told that, Before APT 2.0, all types of Postal services in the Postal Department were being provided through SAP and Darpan 2.0. SAP is a software developed by a Private Company, while Darpan 2.0 is an application developed by Department of Posts. Under IT Modernization-2.0, Center for Excellence in Postal Technology, Mysore prepared the online portal APT 2.0 which provides a single window platform by combining the work of various software, which will make it very easy for the Postal staff to work and Customers will also get prompt service. Now customers will be able to make UPI based Digital Payments by scanning QR code. Many new features have been provided in APT 2.0 which will include effective Delivery work of Postman with GPS facility, starting OTP based delivery system, providing a single window platform for any facility through Dak Seva App for retail and contractual Customers, providing pickup service at lower rates to the customers, providing simple and user friendly Application to all Branch Offices through single window platform. In future, Digipin (new PIN code system) will also be included in it.
On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Shri Chirag Mehta, Dy. Superintendent Shri S.K. Verma, Assistant Directors Shri M M Shaikh, Shri Ritul Gandhi, and Shri Varis Vahora, Manager Shri N G Rathod, Assistant Superintendents Ms. Preyal Shah, Shri Rizwan Shaikh, Shri S.N. Ghori, Shri Jinesh Patel, Shri Ramesh Patel, Shri Ronak Shah, and Shri Bhavin Prajapati, Inspectors Ms. Sonal Desai, Ms. Payal Patel, Shri Vijay Rathod, and Shri Yogendra Rathod, Foreign Post Office Postmaster Shri Vishal Purohit, Shri Chirayu Vyas, Shri Avinash Kadiya, and several other officers and staff members were present.
