The objective of this campaign is to ensure access to essential financial services such as banking, insurance, and pension up to the Gram Panchayat level and to enrol eligible citizens in the corresponding schemes. The key components of the campaign include re-verification of existing inactive bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), opening new bank accounts for individuals who do not have one yet, promoting enrolment in the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). During this campaign, at least one special camp will be organized in every Gram Panchayat across all districts in the country by the banks with active participation of the State administration and other Ministries of Government of India, to ensure that the benefits of the Financial Inclusion schemes reach the masses.
The two social security schemes of Government of India; Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) are aimed at providing life and accidental insurance cover to the citizens, especially the marginal sections of the society. PMJJBY provides insurance cover of Rs. 2 lakh at annual premium of Rs. 436/- in the event of death due to any reason whereas PMSBY provides accidental insurance cover of Rs.2 lakh at the annual premium of Rs. 20/- for death or full permanent disability and Rs.1 lakh in case of partial permanent disability. The two schemes provide the much needed financial support to the subscribers and/or their families in such eventualities.
The Atal Pension Yojana (APY) encourages voluntary savings for retirement and offers a guaranteed minimum pension ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000 per month after the age of 60 to the workers of the unorganized sector, thereby ensuring financial security during old age of the subscriber.
