Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya conducted a comprehensive review meeting with district officials in Hailakandi today to assess the progress made under the Aspirational Districts Programme.

During the meeting, the Minister was apprised of the various developmental initiatives undertaken by the district administration across key sectors such as health, education, agriculture, rural livelihoods, and financial inclusion. The district officials presented detailed updates on achievements, ongoing challenges, and planned interventions to further accelerate development in the region.

The Union Minister emphasized that the benefits of all government schemes and projects must effectively reach every section of society, especially the most disadvantaged, to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the people and bring them above the poverty line. She highlighted the unique natural and agricultural resources available in Hailakandi—such as bamboo, betel nut, paddy, and tea—and called for their optimal utilization to boost local livelihoods and income generation.

Smt. Bambhaniya appreciated the district administration’s efforts and encouraged continued focus on convergence, innovation, and community participation to achieve the set developmental targets. She assured full support from the Government of India in resolving bottlenecks and scaling successful models.

Later in the day, the Minister also visited the Food Corporation of India’s paddy storage facility at Lalabazar and reviewed its operations.

The review meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Smt. Nisarga Hivary and senior officials from all line departments.
