The faculty members announced the launch of their national security centric programmes for the academic year 2025–2026, including Bachelor's, Master's, Diploma, PG Diploma, and Doctoral courses across diverse fields such as cyber security, forensic science, police administration, artificial intelligence and much more. These programmes are tailored to create skilled manpower capable of addressing evolving national and regional security challenges. RRU also offers over 425 training programmes for in-service personnel and has successfully trained more than 21,000 professionals across India and abroad. Those who specialise in the said fields will be of immense value not just to the nation’s armed forces, CAPFs and state law enforcement agencies, but in the private sector too, especially in security-oriented startups and incubations.
During the session, Ms. Banerjee emphasised the relevance of trained forensic professionals in addressing the challenges posed by evolving crime patterns, particularly in West Bengal. She stated, “Data from Bengal indicates that the presence of personnel trained in forensics can act as a strong deterrent to crime." She stated, Pasighat Campus is geographically well-positioned, and is the best option available students interested in studying national security from this region. She further said a state- of- the- art drug laboratory is to be inaugurated soon.
Dr. Wandra highlighted that 35 students from West Bengal are currently enrolled at RRU, with seven pursuing studies at the main Gandhinagar campus. He further underlined the increasing synergy between RRU and state law enforcement bodies, mentioning the recent participation of DIG-rank officers from West Bengal Police (Jails) in university-hosted seminars.
The interaction also spotlighted RRU’s commitment to promoting interdisciplinary education and fostering regional awareness about modern security threats and scientific countermeasures. Shri Kharel reiterated the university’s role in empowering the youths with knowledge and practical skills necessary for contributing to national safety and security.
The session concluded with a call to the media to disseminate awareness about the new-age opportunities in security education and the importance of academic-policy linkages in building a resilient internal security framework.
