Pondicherry University NSS Organizes ‘Path Yatra’ to Commemorate Dr. B.R.Ambedkar’s 134th Birth Anniversary

Pondicherry University’s National Service Scheme (NSS) commemorated the 134th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with great reverence and enthusiasm under the MY Bharat initiative, as guided by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. A special program was organized at the B.R. Ambedkar Administrative Building to honor the legacy of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.


The event was jointly coordinated by NSS Pondicherry University and the Allied Liaison Officer of the Special Reservation Cell. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered an inspiring address, reflecting on Dr. Ambedkar’s monumental contributions to education, social justice, and constitutional values.
A Preamble Reading Ceremony followed the address, reaffirming the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution that Dr. Ambedkar championed. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu then flagged off a symbolic ‘Path Yatra’ (march), representing a collective tribute to Dr. Ambedkar’s lifelong struggle for equality and justice.


In a gesture of encouragement, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Prakash Babu also engaged in an informal interaction with the NSS volunteers, appreciating their dedication and enthusiasm. The event was successfully conducted under the supervision of NSS Programme Coordinator Dr. Satheesh Kumar and Programme Officers Dr. Santhosh Mathew, Dr. Praveen, and Dr. G. Prabakaran. Over fifty committed NSS volunteers participated in the event, making it a meaningful and memorable tribute.
