National Statistics Office Nagpur organised One Day Regional Training Camp on Comprehensive Modular Survey CMS: Education

One Day Regional Training Camp of National Statistics Office (Field Operations Division), Regional Office, Nagpur,  under the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation, Conference of NSS SocioEconmic-80th Round was held at Conference Hall of NSO (FOD) Regional Office, at C.G.O. Complex,   Seminary Hills, Nagpur   today.

Shri Srinivas Uppala, Deputy Director General, Zonal Office, DDG(WZ)  Nagpur, inaugurated the program along-with the dignitaries present at the inauguration Shri Ranga Sreenivasulu, Director & Regional Head, NSO (FOD), RO Nagpur, Shri C. K. Meshram, Deputy Director, Household Survey Unit (HSU), Nagpur and Shri Sunil A. Vairagade, Assistant Director & Head of Office.

First of all,  DDG (WZ) paid his respects to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar by garlanding his photo and then lighted the traditional lamp.

Shri Ranga Sreenivasulu, Director, RO Nagpur, welcomed all the participants present in the conference. He explained different types of surveys that are going to be conducted in 80th round of NSS i.e., Socio-economic (SE). he also explained that Comprehensive Modular Survey- Education (CMS-E: April- June, 2025) as part of ongoing NSS SE-80th round Survey (Household social consumption: Health). The objective of this training program is to provide practical and intellectual training to statistics officers and field functionaries for proper data collection.

The objective of this survey is to collect information on education related indicators, primarily focusing on households’ expenditure on education. The survey will cover the whole of the Indian Union except the villages in Andaman and Nicobar Islands which remain extremely difficult to access. He told that NSS, the flagship programme of Ministry of statistics & Programme Implementation (MOSPI) has been the cornerstone in India’s journey towards evidence-based policy making. Since its inception from 1950s the NSS has become robust mechanism for capturing socio-economic status of the country. Also, he added that 80th round of NSS is another milestone in this longstanding tradition of excellence. Further, this round focuses on crucial expect of society, economy aim to generate high quality data help to shape in information-decision for nation progress.

After then Shri C. K. Meshram Deputy Director, Household Survey Unit (HSU), Nagpur emphasized on the data quality by drawing scrutiny and field inspections attentively on behalf of HSU, Nagpur in his speech.

Today’s Chief guest Shri Srinivas Uppala, Deputy Director General, Zonal Office, Nagpur, first welcomed the dignitaries and all the trainees present. In his speech, he focused on the keyword CMS (Comprehensive Modular Survey), which means that a short time survey along-with the ongoing NSS SE-80th Round main survey: Household social consumption-Health in order to get quick results according to fulfil the data gaps as per the demands of various ministries for formulation of planning and policies and. In first quarter (Jan-Mar 2025), the NSS conducted as CMS: Telecom with the ongoing SE-80th Rd. survey and now in the second quarter (April-June 2025) as CMS-Education. He explained the survey CMS-Education is one of the important socio transformations not only individual development but also national growth. He also explained the importance of data which are used by various stakeholders and researchers. At the end, he requested to all the participants to actively participate in the training so that the data would be collected with more accuracy and quality.
