Mumbai, 21 March 2025
The Hall of Nuclear Power at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, is set to be inaugurated on 24th March 2025 at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai. Bhuwan Chandra Pathak, Chairman & Managing Director of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) will be inaugurating the hall.

The Hall of Nuclear Power, originally inaugurated in 2011, has been revamped to showcase cutting-edge advancements in nuclear technology. The 700 sq. m. gallery features 70 interactive exhibits that provide an immersive experience through AR-VR technologies, dioramas, videos, and virtual walkthroughs. Visitors can explore topics such as nuclear fission, reactor operations, radiation safety, nuclear waste management, and the role of nuclear energy in achieving net-zero emissions.

Beyond power generation, the gallery highlights nuclear applications in medicine, agriculture, and industry. A virtual tour of a nuclear power plant allows visitors to experience the inner workings of a reactor, enhancing public confidence in nuclear technology.

B.V.S. Sekhar, Executive Director (Corporate Planning & Corporate Communication), NPCIL, Umed Yadav, Additional Chief Engineer (Corporate Planning & Corporate Communication), NPCIL, and Umesh Kumar Rustagi, Director, Nehru Science Centre (NCSM) will also be present during the event.

As India's energy demands continue to rise, nuclear energy remains a stable, long-term, and environmentally friendly solution. The three-stage nuclear program envisioned by Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha in 1959 laid the foundation for India's energy self-sufficiency. However, public concerns about nuclear safety persist. The revamped gallery aims to bridge the knowledge gap by providing transparent, fact-based insights into India’s nuclear energy advancements and safety measures.
