Empowering Divyang Citizens: AYJNISHD(D) to host Deaf Livelihood Fair 2025

Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) [AYJNISHD (D)], an autonomous body under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, in collaboration with the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU Baroda) is set to host the ‘Deaf Livelihood Fair 2025’ on 22nd February 2025 from 10 AM to 4 PM at AYJNISHD, Bandra West, Mumbai.

This landmark initiative is the first-of-its-kind in Mumbai and it aims to empower deaf job seekers by connecting them with potential employers, business opportunities and skill development programs. The job fair will serve as a platform to promote equal employment, financial independence and inclusive workplace policies for the deaf community. This free-of-cost event will provide job placement services through interviews, entrepreneurship support and networking opportunities for adult deaf individuals. It will enable them to connect with leading employers, explore career options, discover business collaborations and pursue self-employment avenues through networking and start-ups. The fair is designed to promote equal employment, financial independence and inclusive workplace policies for the deaf community and will include employers such as Dr. Reddy’s, Cure International India, Children in India, ICON Pvt. Ltd., Big Basket, BSE, Kalpavriksh Pvt Ltd., CMS, MTEL Store Keepers, Amazon, SAMARTHANAM, Youth4Jobs, Guru Nanak College etc. Targeting adult deaf individuals, this job fair will ensure an accessible and inclusive setup with Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpreters available throughout the event.

The Deaf Livelihood Fair 2025 is a step towards bridging the employment gap and ensuring economic inclusion for persons with hearing disabilities. The event welcomes deaf job seekers, employers, recruiters, and entrepreneurs committed to fostering diversity in the workforce.
