DRI Mumbai Arrests One for Attempting to Smuggle Narcotics into India

Based on specific intelligence that a Congo national would be attempting to smuggle narcotics into India, officers of DRI Mumbai intercepted the said person who had arrived at the Mumbai Airport from Kinshasa.
On questioning, the person admitted to ingesting capsules containing narcotic drugs for smuggling into India. She was produced before the Hon’ble Magistrate and, as per the court order, was admitted to a nearby government hospital.
The person then purged 10 capsules containing 544 grams of cocaine, valued at Rs. 5.44 Crores in the illicit market which was seized under the NDPS Act, 1985 and the said person was arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Further investigation is in progress.
