IHM Mumbai Hosts Cornucopia’25: A Journey Through Diverse Cuisines and Cultures

 Mumbai, February 8, 2025

The 7th edition of Cornucopia – The Food & Trade Fair, organized by the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Mumbai was held at the IHM Mumbai campus in Dadar West on 7th-8th February, 2025. The event showcased a vibrant celebration of food, culture, and creativity.

The inauguration of Cornucopia’25 was marked by the presence of Dr. Nisheeth Srivastava, Principal of IHM Mumbai, and esteemed faculty members including Mr. Francis Thomas, Mrs. Neelam Nadkar, Mrs. Shilpa Madkar, and Mr. Asit Kumar Mishra. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Chef Prakash Pawaskar, an alumnus from the 1981 batch of IHM Mumbai.

The event featured around 29 student-run stalls, each showcasing a diverse range of cuisines including Koli cuisine, Japanese-Kolhapuri fusion, Chinese, Indo-Italian, Goan-Punjabi fusion, Bihari, Oriental, and Korean dishes. The event also offered a variety of bakery and confectionery stalls, along with refreshing hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks.

The primary goal of the event is to provide students with hands-on experience in managing food stalls, thus fostering entrepreneurship. Launched in 2013, Cornucopia has become one of the most anticipated annual events at IHM Mumbai. Revived successfully in 2017, the fair has grown to be an essential part of the Institute's dedication to experiential learning, offering students real-world exposure to the hospitality industry.

In addition to the food and cultural aspects, Cornucopia’25 featured a dynamic intercollegiate competition. With participation from 10 colleges across Mumbai and over 200 students competing, the event highlights diverse creative fields beyond culinary arts. The competition, based on the theme “Dekho Apna Desh,” included Nukkad Natak, Photography, Face Painting, Folk Dance on the first day of the event. The second day included Bollywood Villain Cosplay, Cultural Quiz, Fashion Show , Contemporary Dance, Bollywood Mashup Singing, Photography etc. The competitions offered students a platform to showcase their talent, creativity, and cultural knowledge.

Cornucopia’25 stands as a testament to IHM Mumbai’s ongoing efforts to provide its students with an all-encompassing, hands-on learning experience in the hospitality industry. By combining food, culture, and creativity in one grand event, Cornucopia continues to showcase the talent and entrepreneurial skills of IHM Mumbai students.
