Shri R. THIRUPPATHI VENKATASAMY, IA&AS has taken over charge as Principal Accountant General in the office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit-II), Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, on 31.01.2025. He will be responsible for audit of major departments such as Energy, Industries, Transport, PWD, Highways & Minor ports, State PSUs and all the departments of UT of Puducherry.

Prior to the current assignment, he was working as Director General, in the office of the Director General of Audit (Central), Chennai, Accountant General in the Office of the Accountant General (Audit-11), Maharashtra, Nagpur and as Principal Director of Audit at the India Audit Office, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he was responsible for audit of overseas offices of Government of India including Embassies of India.

He graduated from Agriculture College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu in 1992 and completed his post-graduation in Agriculture Extension from Tamil Nadu Agriculture University, in 1995. He has also completed post-graduation in Master of Public Affairs from University of Minnesota, USA in 2014. He has been recognized as a "Certified Internal Auditor" by the IIA. USA, as a 'Certified Information System Auditor' by ISACA, USA and as a 'Certified Fraud Examiner' by ACFE, USA.
