Mundra Customs destroys Psychotropic substances valued at Rs 150 Crores

Mundra Customs destroyed 94 lakh tablets of Tramadol, a psychotropic substance covered under the NDPS Act, seized in 2024 from export consignments heading to Africa. The seizure of Tramadol with a street value of Rs 150 Crores marked one of the largest Tramadol busts since its classification as a psychotropic substances under the NDPS Act in 2018. The seized drugs were destroyed on 23.01.2025 at an Incinerator located in Bachau, Dist. Kutch.
This destruction exercise is part of an all-India Drug Disposal Campaign being held from 10th to 25th January 2025 by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC). This campaign underscores commitment of Indian Customs to combating drug trafficking by ensuring the prompt and efficient disposal of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) ripe for destruction.
