NIPER Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and ITRA, Jamnagar Sign Landmark MoU to Foster Collaborative Research and Innovation

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER)       Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), Jamnagar, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for collaboration aimed at converging modern pharmaceutical sciences with Ayurveda. This strategic partnership underscores the commitment of both premier institutions to advancing research, education, and innovation in the fields of science, and technology.

Key Objectives of the MOU is

  • To promote research and training by enhancing interest and capacity for ayurveda related activities at both institutions.
  • To deepen scientific and technological understanding and facilitate a comprehensive understanding of issues relevant to science, technology, and management in the respective domains.
  • To achieve these goals, NIPER Ahmedabad and ITRA Jamnagar will undertake the following initiatives:
  • Joint Research Activities: Conduct and supervise collaborative research to deepen the understanding of principles of Ayurveda with modern science and technology.
  • Events and Knowledge Exchange: Organize joint symposiums, conferences, and workshops addressing pressing research and teaching issues.
  • Sponsored Research: Collaborate on the submission of international projects and proposals for sponsored research opportunities.

During the signing ceremony, Prof. Shailendra Saraf, Director, NIPER Ahmedabad, highlighted the importance of integrating traditional wisdom with modern science to create innovative healthcare solutions. Prof. B J Patgiri, Director Incharge, ITRA Jamnagar, emphasized that the partnership will pave the way for advancements in the standardization, validation, and clinical research of Ayurvedic practices and formulations.

During their visit, the NIPER delegates visited the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre (GTMC) and participated in a roundtable discussion with its representatives.

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for future collaboration to enhance the validation and standardization of Traditional medicines. The discussion also emphasized the importance of bridging traditional medicine systems with modern science to integrate evidence-based practices and develop innovative healthcare solutions.
