Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized a two-day Residential Mentors Training Programme

The Bengaluru branch of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, organized a two-day Residential Mentors Training Programme for teacher mentors of BIS Standards Clubs at Bengaluru on 19th and 20th Dec 2024.

The programme was attended by 56 teacher mentors from various districts of Karnataka and Krishnagiri(TN). Shri Vijayaveeran K, Scientist-E/Director and Head, BIS Bengaluru office inaugurated the event and emphasized the goal of the programme to equip these mentors with the knowledge needed to conduct various activities related to awareness on quality and standards.

Shri Raghuveera B S, KES, Director, Urdu and Other Minority Languages, Department of Education, Bengaluru, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. During his speech, he stressed on importance of skill development and to promote the establishment of more Standards Clubs in Karnataka's educational institutions. Shri. Suresh Kumar K M, KAS, Joint Director, Department of Technical Education, Karnataka, highlighted the significance of standards in everyday life and discussed their impact on safety and quality of life.

Mrs. Mercy Rani S, Scientist-C/Deputy Director, BIS Hubli Branch, briefed the participants about the role of Standards club in the growth and development of young minds. Shri S D Selvan, Former Director, BIS and Dr Lalit Kumar Gupta, Assistant professor, BMS IT , were present as the faculty for the event and explained the participants about their roles and responsibilities as a mentor and importance of the standards club in nation building.

The program also included discussions on roles and opportunities for teacher mentors, research scholars, and students in the domain of quality and standards. The event was coordinated by Shri Mohammad Ahamed Bijapur, SPO, Hubli and Smt. Pritha Roy, SPO, Bengaluru along with the BIS Bengaluru team.
