The National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI), a premier institution under the Director General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), is pleased to announce the opening of its new Extension Centre in Lucknow, SCVT building (1^st floor), Aliganj, Lucknow- Uttar Pradesh. The launch of the inauguration event was held on 18th December 2024 and the center was inaugurated by Director General / Additional Secretary of the Directorate General of Training (DGT), where the occasion was graced by other distinguished dignitaries, including the Deputy Director General (DDG)-DGT, Regional Director of UP (RDSDE), Senior State Government officials of Uttar Pradesh, and the Executive Director - NIMI along with the team.

This new extension center is part of NIMI’s strategic efforts to expand its reach and enhance its role in vocational education and skill development. The establishment of the Lucknow center will significantly strengthen NIMI’s capacity to deliver instructional materials & digital content, especially in the northern part of the country with ease and more outreaches can be made in these areas.

NIMI has long been at the forefront of designing and developing instructional media and training materials for the skills sector. The new center will play a crucial role in furthering NIMI’s mandate to enhance its reach across society and trainees undergoing vocational training ensuring to facilitate learners in their learning endeavour. The center will act as facilitation for various specialized training programs aligning with industry standards and the government’s focus on skilling and upskilling the workforce.

NIMI has been functioning as a Nodal Agency to develop Instructional Materials, e-content, Question Banks, Train media developers and trainers, enable the translation of books into Hindi and other regional languages, network with other vocational stakeholders, create resource centers for vocational courses, promote research in the field of development of instructional materials and offer consultancy services. NIMI proposes to accelerate the translation of its content in different regional languages and to ensure that dedicated NIMI Hindi cell will be stationed at Lucknow center. This will also facilitate NIMI to mobilize language experts to contribute in translation work, which is one of the main mandate of NIMI.
