In a unique educational initiative, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organised an informative visit to the Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai for students from several schools. The event aimed to introduce students to the science behind standards and the role they play in everyday life.

Participating schools included Anjur Secondary School, Anumanit Ashram School Talwandi, B.H. Agrawal Vidyalaya Kasara, and Gyandeep Vidyalaya GegavNandwal, all of which are part of BIS Standards Clubs.

The visit was designed to help students understand the scientific principles that underpin standards and their importance in various aspects of daily life. The students explored a variety of interactive exhibits at the Nehru Science Centre, gaining hands-on experience in seeing how scientific principles are applied in real-world scenarios. Through this initiative, BIS aimed to instill a sense of quality and precision in the students. By engaging with scientific displays and practical examples, the students learned how standards ensure safety, reliability, and innovation in products and services, helping them understand their direct impact on society.

Teachers accompanying the students lauded the educational visit as a valuable experience. A teacher highlighted that the visit provided students with a unique experience, introducing them to the fascinating world of science while showcasing how standards contribute to safety, quality, and innovation. They expressed gratitude to BIS for offering this valuable opportunity. The visit also highlighted the significance of experiential learning, helping bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application. It served as a reminder of the importance of learning beyond textbooks and encouraged students to think critically about the world around them.
