IIT Gandhinagar Strengthens International Ties with Taiwan Universities

The Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IITGN), has taken another stride in fostering global academic collaborations with a visit to Taiwan from November 16th to 21st, 2024. This visit witnessed the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with some of Taiwan's premier universities, paving the way for enriching academic partnerships, faculty and student exchanges, and collaborative research opportunities. Building on the warm ties established during the visit by National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) to IIT Gandhinagar in October 2023, this reciprocal visit involved meaningful interactions and discussions with representatives from four leading Taiwanese universities like NCKU, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), National Chung Cheng University (CCU), and National Changhua University of Education (NCUE).

Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IIT Gandhinagar visited and signed MoU with several universities of Taiwan.

The Highlights of the MooUs are as follows:

MoU signing with National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU):

Prof Rajat Moona, Director of IITGN, and Prof Li Chun Wang, Dean and Lifetime Chair Professor of the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NYCU, along with other professors, exchanged the MoU.

National Chung Cheng University (CCU):

Dr. Shaw-Jenq Tsai, President of CCU, engaged in productive dialogues with the IITGN delegation to explore joint academic initiatives and exchange programmes, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research and innovation.

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU):

The NCKU team, led by Yan-Kuin Su, Dean of the Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing, had a meeting with the IITGN representatives. To discuss the methods to take the MoU responsibilities further. The delegation also included Prof Ya-Ju Lee, Deputy Director of the Key Materials Program, Prof Shyamal Kumar Saha, Dr Hann-Huei Tsai from Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), and Ms Weili Teng, who oversees international collaborations and student recruitment. Discussions revolved around semiconductor technology, sustainable manufacturing, and key material advancements, laying a robust foundation for joint research ventures.

National Changhua University of Education (NCUE):

Hon Man Lee, OICA Dean and Director of the Language Center, emphasised the importance of cultural exchange and language training programmes to enhance mutual understanding and academic engagement between the institutions.

The visit culminated in understanding, reflecting a shared commitment to excellence in education and research. It shells Facilitate students and faculty exchanges to promote cross-cultural learning, encourage joint research projects in emerging fields like semiconductor technology, and pave the way forward for joining degree programmes and internships.
