CPSICON 2024 Inaugurated at Rashtriya Raksha University: A Confluence of Minds on National Security and Mental Health

The School of Behavioural Sciences and Forensic Investigations (SBSFI), Rashtriya Raksha University hosted National Annual Conference of Clinical Psychology Society of India (CPSI), 2nd CPSICON 2024, at Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU). This year, the theme of conference is “Strengthening National Security: Fostering Mental Health in the Digital Era”.
The conference is inaugurated on 21st November 2024 which has drawn around 300 participants from across India, including distinguished professionals from various disciplines.
The conference witnessed the esteemed presence of distinguished guests Lt Gen. Rakesh Kapoor, AVSM, Deputy chief of the Army staff, Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, AVSM, Director General of Naval Operations, Air Vice Marshal S. Srinivasan, AVSM, VSM, Senior Officer in Charge Administration, Hon’ble Justice Sonia Gokani, former Lady Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, Dr. Kavita Narayan, Sr. Technical Advisor, MoHFW and Jamuna Rajeswaran, president of CPSI and Head of Clinical Psychology Department of NIMHANS, Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr). Bimal N. Patel, Rashtriya Raksha University, Dr. S. L Vaya, Life Time Professor, Rashtriya Raksha University, Dr. Mahesh A. Tripati Director (I/n), Rashtriya Raksha University. The presence of Minister of Health and Family Welfare J.P.Nadda sir was marked through his virtual message in the conference.
On the dais, representatives from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, judiciary and mental health professionals came together to recognize the crucial role of mental well-being in national security. They proudly highlighted that Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) stands as one of the national security universities committed to bridging these vital fields. The CPSICON provided a valuable platform, bringing these esteemed dignitaries together on one stage to foster collaboration and shared expertise.
The conference commenced with a warm welcome by Chairperson of the conference Dr. Tripathi.
Honourable Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU, delivered the presiding address.
Bimal N. Patel emphasized, “Our work transcends addressing day-to-day mental health challenges; we are actively shaping the future of well-being.” He highlighted the profound impact of their efforts in creating a healthier and more resilient society.
Dr. Kavita Narayan addressed the gathering highlighting the growing intersection of public health and national security, offering valuable insights into policy frameworks and interdepartmental cooperation. She lauded the remarkable efforts of mental health professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hon’ble Justice Sonia Gokani emphasized the legal and ethical dimensions of addressing mental health issues in the context of national security. She appreciated the dedicated psychologists of RRU working in Psycho-Social Care Centres for the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates in central prisons of Gujarat.
President of CPSI, Prof. Rajeswaran provided an erudite perspective on the challenges faced by therapists because of the problems which created by digital era.
Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod, in his address praised RRU for its contribution to nation-building. Promod Sir emphasized, “We cannot ignore the significance of mental health alongside the rapid advancements in technology.” He highlighted the critical need for integrating technology with mental health interventions to address emerging challenges effectively.
The Chief Guest, Lt. Gen. Rakesh Kapoor highlighted about the importance of the mentor-mentee relationship, emphasizing that RRU can play a pivotal role in reaching out to school students by introducing programs that help build mental resilience.
The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Geetesh Kumar Singh, Organising secretary of CPSICON, 2024, expressing gratitude to the speakers, attendees, and organizing committee for their contributions to the success of the event.
CPSICON 2024 promises to serve as a platform for thought leaders and practitioners to explore the nuanced intersections of national security, mental health, and technological advancements, furthering India’s holistic approach to a secure and resilient future.
