Union Home Minister Shri Amitbhai Shah and Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel inaugurated Gandhinagar District level Philately Exhibition - 'Philavista - 2024'

The two-day Philatelic Exhibition 'Philavista 2024' was inaugurated on 19th November 2024 by Union Home Minister, Shri Amitbhai Shah and Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel at Dandi Kutir, Mahatma Mandir Museum, Gandhinagar. On this occasion, Special Cover and cancellation on “Architecture of Gandhinagar" was also released. Mayor, Gandhinagar City, Smt. Miraben Patel, Chief Postmaster General, Gujarat Circle Shri Ganesh Sawaleshwarkar, Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav and Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Gandhinagar Division, Shri Piyush Rajak were also present at the event.

Union Home Minister Shri Amitbhai Shah praised the exhibition during his visit and appreciated its significance. During the exhibition, many school children who had come to view the displays were excited to meet the Home Minister and the Chief Minister. Both the Home Minister and Chief Minister interacted with the children, took photographs with them, and extended their best wishes for the children's bright future.

On this occasion, Chief Postmaster General Shri Ganesh Sawaleshwarkar stated that the two-day exhibition held in Gandhinagar focused specifically on historical and cultural postage stamps. Postage stamps connect the past with the present. They play a significant role in introducing the rich and glorious history of the country and the state. For the younger generation and students, stamp collection is not only a hobby but also a powerful means of knowledge enhancement.

Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav stated that the main attraction of the Philatelic Exhibition 'Philavista 2024' is not only the unique collection of stamps from India but also from around the world. The exhibition also features a total of 1,604 postage stamps issued in 168 countries, honoring the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Regarding the special cover released by the Home Minister and Chief Minister on this occasion, he mentioned that Gandhinagar preserves a rich heritage of unparalleled architectural beauty. Famous sites like Stepwell of Adalaj, Akshardham Temple, Vitthalbhai Patel Bhavan (Gujarat Vidhansabha), Dandi Kutir, Mahatma Mandir Museum and Gift City, among others, contribute to the city’s unmatched beauty. Through this special cover, the culture and heritage of Gandhinagar will be promoted across the country and the abroad.

Shri Piyush Rajak, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Gandhinagar Division told that a total of 90 frames have been displayed at the 'Philavista 2024' Philatelic Exhibition, showcasing stamps from India and around the world. Of these, 69 frames are part of the competition group and 21 frames are part of the invitation group. The exhibition will remain open on 19th and 20th of November till 6 PM. During the exhibition, various activities such as Letter-Writing competitions, Philately workshops, Quiz, Stamp design competitions and Elocution competition have been organized for school students. The "My Stamp" counter was also a major attraction for the visitors.

The Chief Secretary of Gandhinagar, Shri Raj Kumar, also visited the Philatelic Exhibition and appraised the efforts by Department of Posts to promote Philately among youth. On this occasion, Shri Mehul K. Dave, Collector of Gandhinagar City, Shri Ravi Teja, Superintendent of Police, Dr. Rajeev Kandpal, General Manager (Finance), Shri Surekh Reghunathen, Director of Postal Services, Jury Member Shri Markand Dave, Assistant Director M. M. Sheikh,  Deputy Superintendent of Posts, Smt. ManjulaBen Patel, Shri Vishalbhai Raval, Secretary of Gujarat Philatelic Association along with several other officials, philatelists, and students from various schools were present at the event.
