Background Note on ESIC Projects to be inaugurated/foundation stone laying by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 29.10.2024

Employees’ State Insurance Corporation, an autonomous organization of Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of India was established in the year 1952. Since its inception, ESIC has been continuously working to provide social security to Insured Workers and their family members belonging to lower wage bracket of the society; in the form of medical care and a range of cash benefits during the contingencies like sickness, maternity, disablement, death due to employment injury and unemployment to the workers and beneficiaries. It covers establishments with more than 10 workers and workers with income below Rs. 21,000/- per month. Today, ESIC is catering to the social security and medical care needs of around 3.72 crore Insured Workers and 14.43 crore beneficiaries through its infrastructure comprising 165 hospitals, 1590 dispensaries, 8 medical colleges and hospitals, 2 dental colleges, 2 nursing colleges and 1 para-medical college, 65 Regional/Sub-Regional Offices, 610 Branch Offices and 105 Dispensary cum Branch Offices throughout the country.

Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister will virtually lay the foundation stone of 05 ESIC projects comprising 200 bedded ESIS hospital at Bommasandra (Karnataka), 100 bedded ESIS hospitals each at Narsapura (Karnataka), 100 bedded ESIC hospital at Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh), 100 bedded ESIC hospital at Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) and 30 bedded ESIS hospital at Atchutapuram (Andhra Pradesh) which will cater to the medical needs of around 41 lakh Insured Persons and beneficiaries. He will also lay the foundation of upgradation of ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Faridabad (Haryana) with additional 500 beds increasing the bed strength from 650 to 1150. Besides, he will virtually inaugurate 300 bedded (upgradable to 500 beds) ESIC hospital, Indore (Madhya Pradesh) which will benefit around 14 lakh Insured Persons and beneficiaries from New Delhi tomorrow. These projects are worth Rs. 1641 Crores.

These hospitals will have all the modern facilities like Modular Operation Theatre Complex with ICU, A Labour Room Complex, Nursery, NICU, PICU etc. with state of art medical equipment’s like imaging services and other critical systems such as MGPS, a liquid medical oxygen plant / PSA, CSSD/TSSU, Nurse Call systems etc and also have both OPD and IPD Services.
