The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI) in Gangtok held a press conference today to highlight its significant accomplishments during the first 100 days of the current government under the Ministry of Ayush. Key figures including Dr. Achintya Kumar Mitra and Dr. Sreelakshmi RS outlined RARI’s commitment to enhancing healthcare through Ayurveda, showcasing impactful initiatives such as the successful Geriatric Care Program, which treated 539 elderly patients, surpassing its target. This program provided holistic consultations and therapies, improving the quality of life for senior citizens.

RARI has also made strides in outreach efforts, conducting 116 tours that reached 1,730 patients in underserved communities, emphasizing preventive healthcare. Collaborative research projects with the GB Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment aim to promote sustainable cultivation of medicinal plants, benefiting local farmers. Furthermore, RARI’s commitment to patient safety is evident through its pharmacovigilance initiatives, monitoring adverse reactions to Ayurvedic medicines.

In addition to RARI’s accomplishments, the Ministry of Ayush has established a donor agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) and signed MoUs with Vietnam and Malaysia to enhance cooperation in traditional medicine. The launch of the “One Herb, One Standard” initiative aims to improve the quality of herbal medicines across India. As RARI prepares for upcoming events, including Ayurveda Day celebrations on October 29 and an international conference on bioeconomy in November, it continues to strengthen its role in promoting Ayurveda as an integral part of India’s healthcare landscape.
