Special discount of 20% on Khadi products and 10% on Village Industries products

The grand Khadi Fest-2024 at KVIC Central Office, Mumbai was inaugurated by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on Thursday. It will go on till 31 October 2024,

Special discount of 20% is being offered on Khadi products and 10% on Village Industry products during the fest. This time around 75 stalls have been set up in Khadi Fest, where a wide range of Khadi and Village Industry products are being displayed. Stalls of Khadi institutions, PMEGP / REGP units, SFURTI clusters and village industry units from all over the country have been displayed in Khadi Fest. In his inaugural address Chairman KVIC Shri Manoj Kumar said that the 'Charkha Revolution' under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji has taken Khadi to new heights.

Addressing the programme, Chairman KVIC said that on Gandhi Jayanti,2 October 2024, expanding the vision of poor welfare of Hon’blePrime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji, an increase in the wages of lakhs of Khadi artisans across the country has been announced, under which the wages of spinners spinning yarn on charkha have been increased by 25% and the wages of weavers weaving on looms have been increased by 7%.

On this occasion, Chairman, KVIC reiterated that the Khadi sale which was around Rs 32,000 crores 10 years ago, has surpassed Rs 1.55 lakh crores under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Khadi artisans have directly benefited from this, their wages have increased. He also said that there are more than 3000 registered Khadi institutions across the country, through which about 4.98 lakh Khadi artisans are getting employment. The increase in wages will provide economic strength and stability to these artisans, out of this 80%are women. The wages of spinners and weavers has increased by 213% in the last 10 years, leading to economic empowerment of rural India, he added.

Khadi Fest-2024 is not only a prominent platform to promote Khadi and Village Industries products, but it is also an important step towards bringing economic upgrading in the lives of rural artisans. KVIC aims to empower Khadi artisans as much as possible through this festival. KVIC CEO Shri VatsalyaSaxena and KVIC officers and employees were present in the programme.
