SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY CELEBRATES 155th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI

South Western Railway and Hubballi Division celebrated Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti today (02.10.2024) at SSS Hubballi Railway Station. This day also marked the conclusion of the fortnight-long Cleanliness drive, Swachhta Hi Seva, conducted across South Western Railway from 17th September 2024.
Shri Arvind Srivastava, GM/SWR; Shri K.S. Jain, AGM/SWR; Shri Harsh Khare, DRM Hubballi; and the Principal Heads of Departments paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at SSS Hubballi Railway Station.
On this occasion, General Manager Shri Arvind Srivastava stated that the Swachhta Hi Seva (SHS) 2024 campaign, which was conducted from September 17 to October 2, promotes cleanliness and hygiene across the country. Celebrating its 10th anniversary "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan" was launched with a new objective, embracing the theme 'Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata.' He mentioned that the campaign aims to raise public awareness about cleanliness among all citizens of India and inculcate a sense of social responsibility.
During the ceremony, students from various schools and colleges performed Bharatanatyam, patriotic songs, and musical pieces to raise awareness. Students from Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 and Fatima College performed skits on the theme 'Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata,' and KLE Technical University students presented patriotic songs. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the drawing and painting competition organized on the theme of cleanliness as part of the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign.
Additionally, General Manager Shri Arvind Srivastava and Additional General Manager Shri K. S. Jain distributed cloth bags to passengers at SSS Hubballi Railway Station to raise awareness about cleanliness and the importance of avoiding single-use plastic. Later, they also participated in Shramdaan at SSS Hubballi Railway Station premises, along with other senior officers.
