Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna held meeting at Tumakuru, Chitradurga and Davangere with local MP, MLA, Railway & District Officials to review Railway Projects

Shri V. Somanna, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Jalshakti, Government of India, conducted a meeting at the DC Office in Tumakuru today to review the status of land acquisition and the progress of the Tumakuru-Rayadurga New Line Project and the Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davangere New Line Projects. Shri Jyothi Ganesh, Hon'ble MLA, Tumakuru City was also present during the review meeting.
The 206 KM Rayadurga-Tumakuru line, which runs via Kalyanadurga, covers 8 stations in Tumakuru District of Karnataka and 7 stations in Andhra Pradesh. So far, 83 KM of the line between Doddahalli and Rayadurga has been completed. During the meeting, it was reported that land acquisition has been completed 100% in the following sections: Tumakuru-Urukere, Urukere-Koratagere, and Madakasira-Pavagada. In the Koratagere-Madhugiri and Madhugiri-Madakasira sections, 91% of the required land has been acquired, while 97% of the land needed for the Pavagada-Doddahalli section has also been secured.
Work on the new line is currently in progress between Tumakuru-Urukere and Pavagada-Doddahalli. Tenders have been invited for the new line work between Urukere-Koratagere and Koratagere-Madhugiri. The tender for Madhugiri-Madakasira will be invited shortly, and the tender for Madakasira-Pavagada is under finalization.
Shri V. Somanna instructed officials to expedite the acquisition of the remaining land required for the projects and to ensure that the new line projects are completed according to schedule. Shri Ajay Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer, South Western Railway; Smt. Subha Kalyan, Deputy Commissioner, Tumakuru District; Shri Prabhu G., CEO, Tumakuru Zilla Panchayat; and other officials from Railways and State were present.
Earlier, Shri V. Somanna participated in a Swachhata Shramdan organized at the Gandhi Bhavan premises in Tumakuru, reinforcing the commitment to cleanliness as part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
Later Shri V. Somanna, also held a review meeting with local MP, MLA, Railways and District Administrative Officials at the Chitradurga District Collector's Office to discuss regarding land acquisition for the Tumkur - Chitradurga - Davanagere New Railway line project.
Hon’ble MP of Chitradurga, Shri Govind Makthappa Karjol; Hon’ble MLA of Challakere, Shri T. Raghumurthy; Hon’ble MLA of Holalkere, Shri. M Chandrappa; Deputy Commissioner of Chitradurga, and other Senior Officials from the Railways and the State Government were also present at the meeting.
In his address to the press, Shri V. Somanna underscored the substantial contributions of the Railways to the Chitradurga region. He also shared an overview of the major upgrades and beautification efforts being carried out at various railway stations across Karnataka, while highlighting several ongoing initiatives focused on improving passenger amenities and boosting operational efficiency. He also expressed his gratitude to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the comprehensive arrangements made for special trains to accommodate devotees attending the Kumbh Mela.
In a final leg of his day’s engagements, Shri V. Somanna held another review meeting in Davangere at the District Commissioner’s Office to discuss the progress of railway projects in the area. Local representatives, along with officials from Railways and the District Administration, attended the meeting to ensure smooth execution of the projects.
