Group Centre CRPF, Bengaluru organized Swachhta Hi Seva activities

As part of Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, Group Centre CRPF, Bengaluru conducted various activities during Swachhta Pakhwada that is 14 September to 02 Oct 2024. On the eve of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on 02/10/2024, Shramdhan Drive on Swachh Bharat Diwas was conducted at surrounding area of BBMP Park located at Attur Layout, in which 300 CRPF personnel, BBMP employees, local youths, students were present on the occasion.

On the Occasion Dr. V.Nagendra Prasad, (Kannada Film Actor, Director, Lyricist, Music Composer) was invited as a Chief Guest. While addressing the gathering, he expressed that it gives him immense pleasure to get an opportunity to join hands with the CRPF Personnel to create awareness among masses towards the social campaign of neat and clean the nation for the welfare of the society. Further he also expressed that the contribution made by the CRPF towards the security of the nation is highly appreciable and all Indians feel proud of it.

As per the release received, various Swachhta hi Seva activities have been conducted during 14th September to 2nd October under the guidance of Sh. T. Vikram IPS, Inspector General of Police Karnataka and Kerala Sector, CRPF and Sh. Padma Kumar A, DIG, Group Centre CRPF Bengaluru. On 14/09/2024, Swachhata hi Seva Campaign was launched by Shri. S. R. Vishwanath, Member of Legislative Assembly, Bengaluru and a rally was organized  to mark the inauguration of the campaign. On 17/09/2024, Tree plantation drive along with Jeewan Mukti Foundation was conducted, where 100 Nos of plants were planted.

On 20/09/2024, a painting competition for the students was organized, where 92 students participated. On 22/09/2024, Mega cleanliness drive with citizens was organized at State Highway from GC CRPF Main gate to Puttenahalli. On this occasion Shri. S. R. Vishwanath, MLA was present as a Chief Guest and participated in the cleanliness drive. On 26/09/2024, a Preventive Health check-up camp to Safai Mitra was organized at Composite Hospital, Bengaluru.

The objective of SHS 2024 is to facilitate large-scale advocacy and citizen participation for swachhata, mega cleanliness drives & clearing of dirty and difficult garbage spots (black spots), recognize the contribution of sanitation workers, celebrate the achievements over the past decade, and also reaffirm our commitment to the future of sanitation and sustainable waste management in India. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission, making the campaign even more significant.

On 15th August 2014, speaking from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Hon’ble Prime Minister gave a clarion call for Swachhata to become a national priority and to achieve it through Jan Bhagidaari. Subsequently, the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on 2nd October 2014 under a ‘Whole of Government’ approach, making sanitation ‘everyone’s business’. Thereafter, the whole world saw, as the nation came together and created what is known as the world’s largest Jan Andolan for Swachhata. Over the past decade, continuous efforts as part of Swachh Bharat Mission have led to improved dignity of women, better health outcomes, enhanced school attendance for girls, increase of small and micro entrepreneurs, and overall higher quality of life across the country in both rural and urban areas.

To offer tribute to the Mahatma on his Jayanti, 2nd October is observed as Swachh Bharat Diwas. As a prelude to that, to strengthen voluntarism and collective action for Swachh Bharat, a fortnight of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (SHS) has been observed since 2017. The Hon’ble Prime Minister called every citizen for participation and volunteerism for swachhata. Since then, the annual ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ (SHS) campaign is held from 15th September to 2nd October (Swachh Bharat Diwas) to mobilize widespread citizen action & ownership for swachhata.
