In a monumental stride towards fortifying India’s cybersecurity architecture, Rashtriya Raksha University, under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs, is set to organize a groundbreaking Cyber Commando Training Program on its campus in Lavad, Gandhinagar. The program is scheduled to commence on October 1, 2024, and will span six months.
This avant-garde initiative aims to transform the nation’s cyber defense mechanisms by equipping the police force—who stand as the guardians of the state—with essential skills and knowledge necessary to combat emerging cyber threats. The training program was conceived under the visionary leadership of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah. It was first unveiled on September 10, 2024, during the inaugural Foundation Day celebrations of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.
Shri Vikas Sahay, IPS, DGP of Gujarat, will serve as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of this six-month training program. He will be joined by Shri Mayank Ghildiyal, Deputy Director of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), and Shri Rajesh Kumar, CEO of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), who will act as a Special Guest of Honor. Additionally, Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU, will extend a warm welcome to all guests present during the session.
The launch of this ambitious initiative underscores the government’s resolute commitment to bolstering national security in an era characterized by increasing digital vulnerabilities. As cyber threats evolve and become more sophisticated, it is imperative that law enforcement agencies are equipped with advanced training and resources to effectively address these challenges.
The Cyber Commando Training Program will see participation from 30 police officers hailing from various states across India. This six-month residential program is meticulously designed to create an elite corps of cyber commandos who are not only well-versed in cybersecurity protocols but also adept at confronting and neutralizing the escalating menace of cybercrime.
Participants will undergo rigorous training that encompasses a wide range of topics, including ethical hacking, digital/cyber forensics, threat intelligence, incident response strategies, and advanced cybersecurity measures. The curriculum has been developed by experts in the field and aims to equip officers with practical skills that can be applied directly in their roles within law enforcement.
As cyber threats continue to evolve, it is imperative that law enforcement agencies are prepared with specialized knowledge and skills. This initiative reflects RRU’s commitment to enhancing India’s capabilities in safeguarding its cyberspace and ensuring a secure environment for all citizens.
By investing in such specialized training programs for law enforcement personnel, Rashtriya Raksha University aims not only to strengthen India’s cybersecurity framework but also to foster a culture of proactive defense against cybercrime across the nation.
