Shri V. Somanna, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, flagged off Train No. 06521, Tumakuru–Yesvantpur MEMU Train

In a significant boost to the regional railway network, Shri V. Somanna, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, officially flagged off Train No. 06521, the Tumakuru–Yesvantpur MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) service today at Tumakuru Railway Station. The launch of this service is expected to greatly enhance connectivity between Tumakuru and Yesvantpur, improving local travel for daily commuters and offering a faster and more efficient transit option.

The flagging-off ceremony was graced by the presence of Local representatives. Among them were Shri G. B. Jyothi Ganesh, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Tumakuru City; Shri B. Suresh Gowda, Hon’ble MLA, Tumakuru Rural; Shri M.T. Krishnappa, Hon’ble MLA, Turuvekere; and Shri C. B. Suresh Babu, Hon’ble MLA, Chikkanayakanahalli, Shri G. S. Basavaraju, former Member of Parliament, along with former MLAs Shri Ningappa and Shri Narendra Babu. The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Bengaluru Division, Shri Yogesh Mohan, and other senior officers of the railways also attended the event. In his address, Shri V. Somanna highlighted the fulfillment of a key demand from the people of Tumakuru with the recent addition of a Vande Bharat Express stop at Tumakuru station. The Minister underscored the dedication to regional development, announcing several upcoming railway projects. He said that a four-line industrial corridor between Bengaluru and Tumakuru will be developed, which will foster growth and boost trade in the region. Additionally, a circular and suburban railway system around Bengaluru will soon be implemented to ease the traffic burden and improve urban mobility.

Shri Somanna also mentioned that an automatic signaling corridor between Arsikere and Tumakuru will be constructed at a cost of ₹220 crore, aimed at enhancing the safety and efficiency of train operations. He further said that work on the Tumakuru-Rayadurga and Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davangere railway lines is progressing well, and these projects are expected to be completed at the earliest.

During the event, the attended MLAs expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the launch of the MEMU service, acknowledging its significant role in benefiting daily commuters traveling between Tumakuru and Bengaluru. The newly introduced MEMU train is seen as a vital addition to Tumakuru’s transport network, providing convenient and affordable travel options to the city’s residents. This initiative reflects the Railways' commitment to improving connectivity and fostering the socio-economic development of Tumakuru and its surrounding regions.

Regular Service Details:

Regular services of Train No. 06201/06202 Tumakuru-Yesvantpur-Tumakuru Memu will commence on September 28, 2024 from Tumakuru and September 27, 2024 from Yesvantpur is as follows:

1. Train No. 06201 (Tumakuru-Yesvantpur) will operate on all days except Sunday, departing Tumakuru at 08:45 AM and arriving in Yesvantpur at 10:25 AM. Key en route halts include: Kyatsandra Halt (08:51/08:52 AM), Hirehalli (08:58/08:59 AM), Dobbspet (09:08/09:09 AM), Nidvanda (09:13/09:14 AM), Muddalinganahalli (09:18/09:20 AM), Dodbele (09:25/09:26 AM), Bhairanayakanahalli (09:31/09:32 AM), Gollahalli (09:39/09:40 AM), Soldevanahalli (09:47/09:48 AM) and Chikbanavar (09:54/09:55 AM).

2.  Train No. 06202 (Yesvantpur-Tumakuru) will operate on all days except Sunday, departing Yesvantpur at 05:40 p.m. and arriving in Tumakuru at 07:05 p.m. Key en route halts include: Chikbanavar (05:50/05:51 PM), Soldevanahalli (05:53/05:54 PM), Gollahalli (06:01/06:02 PM), Bhairanayakanahalli (06:08/06:09 PM), Dodbele (06:15/06:16 PM), Muddalinganahalli (06:20/06:21 PM), Nidvanda (06:24/06:25 PM), Dobbspet (06:29/06:30 PM), Hirehalli (06:37/06:06:38 PM) and Kyatsandra Halt (06:45/06:46 PM).
