Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign: A Call to Action for Cleanliness and Sustainability

In line with the national initiative, CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bengaluru proudly launched the "Swachhata Hi Seva" campaign, aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental awareness within our community. This multifaceted campaign includes an oath-taking ceremony for staff, a poster competition for school students, awareness lectures, planting activities, Campus cleaning drive in the residential areas, “Personal Hygiene” Workshop and Safai Mitras Sports events all designed to inspire collective action towards a cleaner and greener environment.
CSIR-NAL has planned these activities to sensitise the importance of cleanliness during September 17 to October 1, 2024.

Oath-Taking Ceremony for Staff
The campaign kicked off with an inspiring oath-taking ceremony led by Dr Abhay A Pashilkar, Director, CSIR-NAL, where all staff members pledged to uphold the values of cleanliness and hygiene in their personal and professional lives. This commitment reinforces our organization's dedication to fostering a culture of cleanliness and responsibility among our team.
Planting Activities
In a bid to contribute to a greener ecosystem, our campaign also included tree planting activities. Volunteers from our staff participated in planting 100 saplings in the Belur campus of CSIR-NAL. This initiative not only enhances the green cover but also instill a sense of responsibility towards nature.

Poster Competition for School Students
To engage the younger generation, we organized a vibrant poster competition for school students under JIGYASA programme. 45 Students from PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya from Hiriyur Taluk participated in this event on 20/09/2024
The theme is centred on "Cleanliness is Next to Godliness," encouraging students to express their creativity while highlighting the importance of cleanliness. The winning entries will be displayed in various public spaces to spread awareness and inspire others.
Awareness Lecture for Students
As part of our educational outreach, Dr C M Manjunatha, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NAL delivered an awareness lecture for the Kendriya Vidyalaya students on 25/09/2024. This lecture covered essential topics related to sanitation, waste management, and the impact of a clean environment on health and well-being. The speaker shared valuable insights, encouraging students to take personal responsibility for their surroundings.
