SAI Bengaluru Organizes Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir - Health Checkup and Swachhata Hi Seva Programs

The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Bengaluru, organized the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir - Health Checkup and Swachhata Hi Seva on 23rd September 2024, focusing on the well-being of its Safai Karmacharis. This initiative provided free health checkups aimed at identifying potential health risks and promoting awareness of personal health and fitness. The program highlighted the importance of regular medical checkups to ensure the health and safety of those responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the institution.
In alignment with the national Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission), SAI Bengaluru also launched a series of cleanliness initiatives starting from 17th September 2024. The mega cleaning drive, led by SAI Bengaluru’s Director, saw active participation from athletes, coaches, and staff in cleaning the SAI campus, dormitories, and residential quarters. The program also included the symbolic Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam tree plantation, dedicated to motherhood, and the installation of Swachhata signage to reinforce the importance of waste segregation and a clean environment.
The Swachhata programs culminated in a vibrant Swachhata Cyclathon and Human Chain, symbolizing solidarity in the fight for a cleaner environment. Poster-making and wall-painting competitions further engaged young athletes in promoting cleanliness, with the creative outputs now adorning the SAI campus. On National Sports Day, 29th August 2024, SAI recognized its athletes and trainees with Swachh Bharat Pakhwada awards and honored the tireless contributions of the Safai Karmacharis, reinforcing the institution’s dedication to fostering health, cleanliness, and sustainability.

2. Mega Cleaning Drive
A massive cleaning campaign was conducted across the entire SAI campus,The Swachhata Pledge was initiated by the Director of SAI Bangalore, marking the beginning of the program with a commitment to cleanliness and hygiene involving the active participation of athletes, coaches, and staff. This initiative focused on maintaining cleanliness in and around the sports facilities, dormitories, and administrative blocks, Residential Quarters, reinforcing the importance of keeping public spaces clean and hygienic.

2. Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam
As part of the green initiative, SAI Bengaluru launched the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam program. The event focused on the symbolic act of planting trees, with each tree being dedicated to the universal figure of motherhood, recognizing the nurturing role that both mothers and nature play in sustaining life. This symbolic activity not only encouraged environmental stewardship but also created awareness about the importance of afforestation.

3. Installation of Swachhata Signage
To ensure the continuation of the cleanliness drive, strategic installation of Swachhata Signage across the SAI campus was carried out. These signages highlight the importance of keeping the surroundings clean and provide clear instructions on waste segregation and disposal practices.

4. Swachhata Cyclathon& Human Chain
A vibrant Swachhata Cyclathon and Human Chain event was organized, engaging the entire SAI family, including athletes, coaches, officers, sports scientists, and staff.This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and Cyclathon. Participants took part in a cycling route that showcased local landmarks, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship. The ride served as a physical representation of the commitment to cleanliness and sustainability.Following the cyclathon a Human chain was formed, symbolizing solidarity in the fight for a cleaner environment. This visual display involved all participants holding hands, demonstrating collective effort and unity in promoting the Swachh Bharat (Clean India) initiative.

6. Poster Making & Wall Painting
To engage the younger generation, Poster Making and Wall Painting competitions were held, with participants creating artworks based on the theme of Swachh Bharat. These vibrant and creative expressions now adorn the walls of the SAI campus, inspiring everyone to contribute to the mission of cleanliness.

7. Swachhata Pakhwada Awards
On National Sports Day, August 29, 2024, at Sports Authority of India (SAI) Bangalore, Athletes and Diploma trainees were honoured with the Swachh Bharat Pakhwada Awards 2024. This event was organised as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, promoting cleanliness and hygiene.

8. Felicitating Safai Karmachari
In recognition of their tireless efforts, the Safai Karmacharis (cleaning staff) of SAI were felicitated in a special ceremony by Regional Director of SAI.Safai Karmacharis contribution to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene was acknowledged with appreciation and gratitude, further encouraging them to continue their dedicated work.

These programmes are a reflection of SAI Bengaluru's ongoing efforts to instill the values of cleanliness, health, and sustainability within its community and beyond. SAI remains committed to supporting the Swachh Bharat Mission and fostering a cleaner and greener environment for all.
