Mumbai Customs Zone-I and DRI Destroy Narcotic Drugs worth Rs. 177 Crore

Drug Destruction Committee of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Mumbai Customs Zone-I and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), has executed the incineration of 24.73 kgs of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS). The drugs, including Heroin, Cocaine, and Marijuana, with an estimated illicit market value of approximately Rs. 177 Crores, were destroyed at the Common Hazardous Waste Treatment Storage & Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF), MWML, Taloja, Navi Mumbai. This operation marks the first drug destruction of the current fiscal year.


In the previous financial year, Mumbai Customs Zone-I had destroyed 215.27 kgs of drugs valued at Rs. 1525 Crores. Postal Appraisal Section (PAS) and the Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch (SIIB) of Mumbai Customs Zone-I, along with DRI seized these narcotics.
