The International Buddhist Confederation and Nava Nalanda Mahavihara commenced its two-day conference on the Living Legacy of Guru Padmasambhava. Hon'ble Governor of Bihar, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, opened the conference with a lamp-lighting ceremony, joined by Venerable Khenpo Chimed, Vice Chairman of the Lumbini Development Trust, and Most Ven. Khenpo Ugyen Namgyel, Secretary/Chief Monk of the Royal Bhutan Temple, Central Monastic Body, Bhutan, as Guests of Honour.

The welcome address was delivered by the Secretary General, IBC followed by remarks from the DG IBC and the Guests of Honour. A short film was presented, showcasing the holy relics' journey to Thailand by the IBC, in which the Hon'ble Governor had also participated.

Hon’ble Governor presided over the official release of the Hindi-Pali dictionary edited by Professor Umashankar Vyas. Hon’ble Governor addressed the conference by highlighting Guru Rinpoche’s contribution to the spread of Buddhism and his relevance in the present time. After Buddha himself it is Guru Rinpoche who made the biggest contribution towards propagation of Buddha Dhamma. What he had given to us needs to be taken ahead by us, he said in his concluding remarks. The message of Ahimsa and shanti must be spread throughout the globe and his principles have to be propagated by us. Hon'ble Governor also mentioned that both Buddha and Guru Rinpoche served for the welfare of others in a selfless manner, and we should also have a similar approach in life with the desire to serve the others.

Secretary General, IBC brought attention to Guru Rinpoche’s contribution to the establishment of the Vajrayana tradition. DG IBC Shri Abhijit Halder emphasised that Guru Rinpoche was a man of compassion, wisdom, and transformative power, and “he understood the human mind in the best possible manner”. Little is known about the Guru in present times, and the conference presented a rare opportunity where the Guru’s life and legacy will be covered by the media, DG IBC concluded.
