AIIMS Nagpur has undertaken several critical security enhancements to ensure the safety of its campus:
1. 24x7 Control Room, Patient Support Cell & Police Booth: A fully operational control room, strategically located near the emergency area, is staffed by senior nursing personnel, round-the-clock. This includes the Security & Patient Support Cell with dedicated landline and mobile numbers for immediate assistance and handling of patient queries or complaints and SOS calls in the hospital campus. The control room landline is connected to all and ICU's through EPABX. Additionally, a 24x7 police booth is now operational in the IPD block near the emergency department, enhancing the immediate law enforcement response to any situation.
2. Deployment of Security Personnel: A robust security team, including 1 Security Officer, 5 Security Supervisors, 213 male security guards, and 40 female security guards, is stationed across the campus. Additional personnel are being recruited to strengthen security further.
3. Controlled Access: Access to critical areas, such as the Inpatient Department (IPD), is tightly controlled, with only patient attendants and visitors with valid passes permitted entry, ensuring a secure environment for patients and healthcare providers.
4. Advanced Surveillance System: The campus is under constant surveillance with 528 CCTV cameras covering both indoor and outdoor areas, including key sections like the IPD, OPD, radiotherapy, blood bank, and mortuary.
5. Code Violet Implementation: AIIMS Nagpur has formulated to launch Code Violet, a protocol to manage and control violent situations, with trained security personnel ready to act swiftly.
6. Dedicated Duty Rooms & Restrooms: Separate duty rooms and restrooms for male and female resident doctors are provided in wards and emergency areas. Female sanitation attendants maintain the cleanliness of female restrooms.
7. Enhanced Campus Lighting & Night Patrols: Additional lighting in poorly lit areas and intensified night patrolling from 10 PM to 6 AM have been introduced to improve safety during late hours.
8. E-Rickshaw Service: A night-time E-Rickshaw service will be introduced for commuting between hostels and the hospital, focusing on the safety of female resident doctors and staff.
9. Female Security Personnels & Training: Extra measures, including appointing female supervisors and ongoing training, ensure the safety and preparedness of all staff.
10. Display of Penal Provisions: Proper display of penal provisions of state legislation has been arranged across the campus to prevent violence against health workers, reinforcing legal protections.
AIIMS Nagpur is dedicated to providing a safe, secure, and supportive environment for everyone on campus. We will continue to review and enhance our security protocols to ensure the highest standards of safety.
